TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a single-ply membrane that's earned its place as the default flat roof in South Florida. The white surface reflects most of the solar heat that a dark asphalt roof soaks up — on a building that runs air conditioning ten months a year, that's a real difference in cooling cost, not a brochure claim. And unlike glued systems, TPO seams are hot-air welded into a single monolithic sheet, which is exactly what you want between your building and a wind-driven South Florida downpour.
